HUMP DAY LOVE: WORDS TO PONDER
Last weekend we celebrated Easter and for Jewish people the end of celebrating Passover. The symbolism is not lost for those that practice faith. Sacrifice and renewal. In a world that is trying to shorten our attention spans, it is the holidays of Passover and Easter that can make us purposefully pause.
Faith. Gratitude. Forgiveness. Love.
We all love platitudes. How often do we “like” them on social media? It makes us feel good for the nanosecond that we engage. How many times in an average day do we try to disrupt our own habits and schedules for the good of another? It is the small not necessarily large gestures that can make the biggest impact.
I contemplated the words said by the Priest – “Faith. Gratitude. Forgiveness. Love.”
These are symbols of Easter and the renewal of spirit. A spirit that pushes us to make the choice of how we behave. The consequences of all our actions. Do we do what is easy or what is hard? Are the words we use sincere and pure with precise intention or do they barely make it past our lips before our actions contradict?
A Shedding of Ourselves.
Like animals that shed their fur from winter to spring, so don’t we have the opportunity to find something deep within ourselves that can morph into something which invigorates us and the relationships we keep.
A new skin, supple and soft. Hydration-ready to soak up the experiences that we choose to coat our bodies – good, bad or ugly.
Addition by Addition.
We learn that the company we keep, the energy that orbits around us, ultimately revolves into these four powerful words, or rather actions – faith, gratitude, forgiveness, love. A pivot in one direction or another, can trigger a positive reaction that can find us in the most unexpected place emotionally – where confidence and freedom intersect. Each one of these actions has as its anchor the beauty of simplicity.
The life force that binds us to one another.
